Maxwell Propulsion Systems was incorporated in October 2005. Our business is to design, engineer and manufacture propulsion systems for light aircraft. The heart of our system is a completely stock Subaru 2.5 liter engine.
The concept of using automotive technology in an aircraft application is not new; we have closely scrutinized competing products and are aware of the business ethics of some failed companies serving that same market place. Our intent is to learn from other’s errors and not to allow history to repeat itself.
In establishing our business, we identified two main challenges: first, to design and market systems that are functional and reliable in an aircraft setting; and second, to make a profit in order to remain in business. Other considerations taken into account included: system reliability, redundancy, weight, vibration, cooling and ease/cost of manufacturing; will it fit (under the cowling), a non-trivial consideration.
